Optical Properties of Interstellar Dust around the Orion A Molecular Cloud

چکیده

We have studied optical properties of interstellar dust around the Orion A molecular cloud to investigate size distribution and composition grains. is one most clouds in solar vicinity ($d \simeq 400\ \rm{pc}$). In this paper, we used near-infrared photometric data. The data were obtained by $BVRI$ bands imaging observations. consisting $JHK_{S}$ taken from 2MASS point source catalog. produced some color excess maps A, measured their ratios such as $E(R-I)/E(B-V)$. order properties, compared observed with results simulation performed Naoi T. et al. (2021) who calculated extinction wavelengths based on a standard model; they assumed power-law grain-size an upper cutoff radius $graphite$ $silicate$ dominant components. As result, found that $\simeq 0.3$ $\rm{\mu}$m, predominates (with fraction grater than $93$ %). addition, further derived total-to-selective ratio $R_{V}$ $A_{V}$ $E(B-V)$, it model calculations. Dust (i.e., $graphite/silicate$) almost consistent those ratios.

The “Criss-Cross Nebula”: an interaction of the Orion-Eridanus Bubble with a small interstellar cloud

A new, small (6′ × 3′) filamentary emission nebula of very low surface brightness (` = 197. ◦0, b = −37. ◦8) is found to be projected towards the center of a huge expanding (40 km s−1) H i shell (Brown et al. 1995) surrounding the Orion-Eridanus Bubble. Moderate quality spectra taken by us show low-excitation species but allow us to estimate the electron density ('102 cm−3). The spectra point t...

Dust in the Small Magellanic Cloud: Interstellar Polarization and Extinction

The typical extinction curve for the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), in contrast to that for the Galaxy, has no bump at 2175 Å and has a steeper rise into the far ultraviolet. For the Galaxy the interpretation of the extinction and, therefore, the dust content of the interstellar medium has been greatly assisted by measurements of the wavelength dependence of the polarization. To the present no s...

Infrared Emission from Interstellar Dust. Iii. the Small Magellanic Cloud

The infrared emission from interstellar dust in the Small Magellanic Cloud is modeled using a mixture of amorphous silicate and carbonaceous grains, including a population of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules. We show the following: (1) This dust model is able to reproduce the spectral energy distribution from near-IR to far-IR for the entire SMC Bar region, provided that the PAH ...

Optical Properties of Dust

Except in a few cases cosmic dust can be studied in situ or in terrestrial laboratories, essentially all of our information concerning the nature of cosmic dust depends upon its interaction with electromagnetic radiation. This chapter presents the theoretical basis for describing the optical properties of dust – how it absorbs and scatters starlight and reradiates the absorbed energy at longer ...
